SUSAN ROCES ACCEPTS PRIZES (Weekly Nation, July 15, 1968)

In addition to the Fiat Car which she has already received from Weekly NATION, Tagumpay and Movie Confidential, Miss Susan Roces received another coveted prize:  a house and lot in Marikina, above the cool, sweeping Marikina Valley.  Miss Roces announced that her fans are invited to join her at the house.

The house and lot are part of the over P200,000.00 valuable prizes which the Makabayan Publishing Corporation gave away at the conclusion of the Miss Philippines Movies contest of 1967.  Susan won the top prize.

Photo below shows Dr. Sonora, father of Susan, Susan's lawyer,  Prof. Miguel O.L. Villaflor, and Susan herself signing the transfer of title to the house and lot.  Bottom photo shows her receiving a Fiat Multipla Car.  Radiowealth Inc., through Weekly NATION, donated a double bed.

Susan's fans have started to visit the house and to rest, on Susan's invitation.  It was her fans that worked to make Susan win the top prize in the contest and feels indebted to them.

KING AND QUEEN OF STARS CORONATION (1966-67)

Tony Ferrer and Susan Roces proclaimed King and Queen of Stars recently.

THE most popular movie actor and actress in the country today, Tony Ferrer and Susan Roces were proclaimed King and Queen of Stars at the Araneta Coliseum recently.

Dashing action star Tony Ferrer who capped the title of King of Stars, won a free trip around the world with hotel expenses aside from a gold trophy and other valuable prizes.

Susan Roces, winning with a great margin over her rivals, received as her prizes a house and lot with furnishings, a bantam car, a gold trophy and home appliances worth thousands of pesos.

Former Miss International Stella Marquez Araneta crowned Susan.  Danny Villanueva, president of the Philippine Movie Press Club presented the trophies to the runners-up.

Voted Prince of Stars, Butch Orlando and Jacqueline Nielsen, the acclaimed Princess of Stars each received a free trip to Hong Kong, a bantam car and a trophy.

Prizes for the runners-up like Susan Salcedo, Rosalinda, Eddie Mesa, Romano Castellvi, Mel Francisco, Jose Yap, Esther Visconde and Maritess are a free trip each to Tokyo and Hong Kong, a bantam trophy.

A glittering coronation pageant, directed by Susana de Guzman and emceed by Vic Pacia, featured a musical revue.  Top movie stars and popular stage, radio and TV personalities participated.  On hand to add music, fun and laughter at the affair were Diomedes Maturan, Vilma Valera, Carmen Soriano, Bobby Gonzales, Manding Claro, Yolanda Guevarra, Cachupoy, Dick Velasco, Nemia Velasco, Babalu, Miniong Villegas, Rody Manlapaz, the Frontierettes, Rolling Beats and Blackjack dancers.
