THE most popular movie actor and actress in the country today, Tony Ferrer and Susan Roces were proclaimed King and Queen of Stars at the Araneta Coliseum recently.
Dashing action star Tony Ferrer who capped the title of King of Stars, won a free trip around the world with hotel expenses aside from a gold trophy and other valuable prizes.
Susan Roces, winning with a great margin over her rivals, received as her prizes a house and lot with furnishings, a bantam car, a gold trophy and home appliances worth thousands of pesos.
Former Miss International Stella Marquez Araneta crowned Susan. Danny Villanueva, president of the Philippine Movie Press Club presented the trophies to the runners-up.
Voted Prince of Stars, Butch Orlando and Jacqueline Nielsen, the acclaimed Princess of Stars each received a free trip to Hong Kong, a bantam car and a trophy.
Prizes for the runners-up like Susan Salcedo, Rosalinda, Eddie Mesa, Romano Castellvi, Mel Francisco, Jose Yap, Esther Visconde and Maritess are a free trip each to Tokyo and Hong Kong, a bantam trophy.
A glittering coronation pageant, directed by Susana de Guzman and emceed by Vic Pacia, featured a musical revue. Top movie stars and popular stage, radio and TV personalities participated. On hand to add music, fun and laughter at the affair were Diomedes Maturan, Vilma Valera, Carmen Soriano, Bobby Gonzales, Manding Claro, Yolanda Guevarra, Cachupoy, Dick Velasco, Nemia Velasco, Babalu, Miniong Villegas, Rody Manlapaz, the Frontierettes, Rolling Beats and Blackjack dancers.
